“Thigh Lift and Lipo – Wellesley, MA” – RealSelf.com Review
I had an excessive amount of saggy skin and fat on my thighs. The incisions are where my thigh meets my torso. The front scar will be high enough that my panties will cover it and the back scars will be hidden in the crease under my butt cheek.
The surgery was performed in a hospital verses a surgery center and I spent the night in the hospital. The next day my daughter took me home and took care of me. I would not recommend skipping the hospital stay or going home alone. I needed help for a few days.
I had Vicodan and ibruprofen for the pain (I was off the Vicodan in a few days and took the Ibruprofen for 2 weeks). I will take iron tablets and vitamin C three times a day for a month. I will wear a surgical compression garment from my midcalf to my waist for months. It is similar to Spanx but has a zipper fly and is more comfortable than I expected.
I was bruised, tender and my legs were swollen due to the edema. Dr O’Sullivan went over everything with me in advance so there were no surprises. I am 3 weeks out and loving my new thighs! I noticed a difference immediately after the surgery and as the edema lessens they get better and better. I will update this post as I heal.
She is not just an exceptional surgeon – she is a healer. Her hands changed my body but more importantly she went above and beyond by reaching out and healing my negative body image. She spent a great deal of time with me before the surgery answering all of my questions and giving me several options while never making me feel rushed. She always treated me like a person not a patient number. She is equally professional and personable. The follow-up care is exceptional – she contacted me often and encouraged me to contact her with any concerns. You will NOT find a better surgeon!

Here is an update. Since the surgery the heavy ache, painful feeling in my left arm is gone, gone, gone! As I told you, for the first time in 6.5 years I can now sleep on my left side without pain. I am still in awe of the difference in my body since the surgery. A simple task, taking a shower is pain-free. I can now raise and lower my arm with comfort.

Over what are now many years, I have often been teased by the thought:By our actions, we show whowe are and what we are. And I’ve wondered how your many patients-we your patients- can adequately thank you for the superb quality of professional service you have given and we have received.
Far beyond the level of skill and experience that you quietly and so effectively demonstrate, you reveal a sensitivity to patients and their families that relieves tension and apprehension. You shrink the distance between the doctor and the patient, creating an important bond of humanness. In this world so often devoid of “taking time” what I attempt to describe is the most unusual because it is so often and sadly lacking. But not with you.
It’s been years since a doctor made a house call to our home. Given the demands made upon your time, I felt guilty for not convincing your office that I should get to you. What you did is beyond the poser of words that I can find but it is not beyond the highest level of appreciation and admiration.
I realize that hand writing is letter world appear more personal, but my penmanship is so bad, it would be indecipherable.

I went to Dr. Renee O’Sullivan after another local surgeon botched a routine breast augmentation leaving me with disfigured and asymmetrical breasts. It’s been a few months since my breast reduction surgery and I just wanted to say thank you and give you an update on my physical condition. Since the surgery, which I recovered from surprisingly fast, I feel great. My shoulder and neck pain have completely gone away and I no longer feel so weighted down. Because of my otherwise small frame, I could never find a bra or bathing suit that fit me and if it did fit there was virtually no support. At the end of the day, I had more strap marks on my shoulders under my breasts. AT times it got quite painful. I was always conscious of my breast and my stress they were putting on my body. Now I haven’t found any problem finding a bra that fits the way it should. There are no marks on my body at the end of the day . I have also been able to take up jogging again without feel self conscious and feeling sore. The difference in the way I feel is amazing. I realize that chronic pain and discomfort is not something that I had to live with
I also wanted to thank you for all of the time that you spent with me before the surgery. I really feel like you listened to my concerns and sympathized with me. You gave me wonderful feed back to my questions and did everything according to how I wanted it. Letter from one patient to another potential patient:
Dr. O was the surgeon for both my daughter and me. We had it done at Beth Israel Deaconeess in Needham and I think we got very good care there. In particular the anesthesia group there is excellent which is very important for a 4-5 hour surgery. She keeps you overnight and takes the drains out before you go home which is very nice. I think Dr. O is an excellent surgeon. She also did a tummy tuck on one of my best friends.
I honestly have no idea what the cost was because it was covered by insurance for by my daughter and me. If you are big enough insurances are now pretty good about covering this as a medically necessary rather than just a cosmetic procedure. Dr. O will certainly be upfront about her fees and estimated hospital charges.
I certainly can say that I would not have believed how much better my back could feel and I wish I did it 10 years earlier.
Dr. O knows all the ropes about how to get insurance coverage if you are anywhere close to the criteria which are fairly well defined but reasonable in my opinion.
I was referred to Dr. O by my internist… mostly because she is within the BIDMC network that he likes to stay in (althought my insurance is not restrictive at all) AND because she is a woman. She practices and operates with her mother who is also a plastic surgeon and works out of her home in Wellesley. But overall I would definitely recommend her. She is board certified in plastic surgery and hand surgery.
I would like to add to the testimonials. My daughter, age 16, was incredibly uncomfortable with her breast size. She is 4′11 and wears size 0 but had large breast. Long story short, her Dr recommended Dr Kim O’Sullivan. Fast forward, I have a whole new daughter!! She LOVES her body! Before the surgery I was so scared at how unhappy and self conscience she was regarding her breast and body appearance. She came out of surgery smiling, came home crying at how wonderful she looked and felt!! I feel that Dr O’Sullivan treated her as if she was one of her own. She truly truly cared about my daughter’s physical and emotional well being!! I only wish I had allowed my daughter to have had this procedure earlier in life!!
